DW Akademie: Master‘s Program "International Media Studies" Call for Applications

Master‘s Program "International Media Studies" | 31st March 2018

Applications for the 10th intake of the bilingual Master’s Program "International Media Studies" will be accepted until 31st March 2018. Successful applicants need to provide proof of advanced language skills in both German and English. They must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification as well as at least one year of professional experience in a media-related field after having obtained their first academic title. Exceptionally qualified students from developing and countries in transition can apply for a limited number of full scholarships (covering the tuition fees of 6,000 EUR, monthly payment of 750 EUR and refund of travel costs). Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalists Fellowship Programme | 21 May 2017

The United Nations Department of Public Information is currently seeking applications from young journalists for the 2017 Reham Al-Farra (RAF) Memorial Journalists Fellowship Programme. The Programme was mandated in December 1980 by UN General Assembly Resolution 35/201 (paragraph III-9) and renamed in September 2003 “Reham Al Farra Memorial Journalists Fellowship Programme”. The programme provides journalists with an opportunity to gain first hand experience in the work of the United Nations. It is also an opportunity to meet journalists from other countries and exchange ideas with UN communication professionals. The Reham al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship is open to junior and mid-level media professionals from countries with developing economies or economies in transition.

Internship for journalists

The Traineeship | January 5 and February 17, 2017

We are looking for young people from all over the world interested in a comprehensive, exceptional quality journalism program with an international broadcaster. Candidates should have journalism experience or be passionate about switching to journalism from technology/IT, economics or the sciences. We are looking for open-minded people full of creative ideas.

The DW editorial traineeship is paid, with a gross starting salary of approx. 1,600 Euros per month. As full-time employees, DW trainees are automatically eligible for German public health insurance. As our trainees move to Germany from abroad, we assist them at every step of the visa process. The traineeship can lead to employment in one of our departments in Bonn or Berlin.

For the bilingual DW traineeship we are looking for:
• English native speakers with a working knowledge of German
• German native speakers with an excellent working knowledge of English

Native speakers of any other DW program language are invited to apply as well. However, very good English skills and basic knowledge of German is required. The successful candidates will be based in Bonn and Berlin.
